This 8-acre fishery, an ASSF member and Troutmaster water, is beautifully set in a tranquil situation on the moors above Kilmacolm and was created over 100 years ago monks as a water supply and also as a source for fresh fish. It has been run by Billy McFerren as a commercial fishery since 1989.The fishing is from the bank only and can cater very comfortably for a maximum of 32 rods. There is also a small bait pond that is enjoyed by families.

The fishery is open all year round, has an average depth is around 8 feet and holds a lot of natural feeding for the trout including olives, buzzers, duns, sedges, caenis, daddy longlegs, gnats and beetles. The best flies and lures include Olives, CDC, Buzzers, Sedge, Daiwl Bach, GRHE, Kate McLaren, Greenwells, Damsel, Yellow Dancer and the Minkie.

Main Loch

The fishery is well stocked with the best quality trout from a renowned supplier and the average weight is around the two-pound mark. The stocking policy is to have a wide range of fish size available, predominately rainbows, from around 1lb 8oz up to real 'biggies' that weigh well into double figures. As well as rainbows, brown and blue trout are also introduced and there is also a small head of natural brown trout. The fishery record for rainbows is 19lbs, brown trout 8lbs and blue trout 5lb 4oz.

Lodge

There is a very comfortable fishery lodge where anglers can purchase hot and cold drinks, snacks and confectionery. In addition there is also a selection of small items of tackle for sale including all the best Lawfield fly patterns. There is excellent car parking facilities as well as toilets. Disabled anglers are made extremely welcome and there is good access for them to a selected number of fishing platforms.
